Holistic Therapy

 Stress Relief

Chronic Conditions

Living With Terminal Illness

For more than 17 years I have assisted people from all walks of life, living with Chronic Conditions and Terminal Illness. Many patients have had cancer or other life threatening illnesses. My approach to working with patients under these challenging circumstances has very much been a Holistic approach. One of the first issues at hand to be addressed  is the stress level of the person affected. More than likely, a person who has found themselves diagnosed with a chronic, life threatening or terminal illness has been under a significant amount of stress, well before the diagnosis. The reason I address the stress level first is that I do not believe that long lasting healing or well being can take place if the Nervous System is in a continual state of Fight or Flight. This releases large amounts of cortisol into the body as well as other hormones that over time can create tremendous health issues. It makes sense to first create an environment where healing can begin to take place. There are numerous modalities that I include in this stage of treatment for patients. Some may include Massage Therapy, Reiki, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Meditations that we engage in together that then the patient may continue at home, Present Moment Awareness, Deep Breathing exercises,Visualization, Trauma Release Therapy, and Hypnotherapy, just to name a few. Each of us are unique and we all have our own individual way of responding to life. This is a very intuitive process of feeling into which modalities will best serve each individual patient. Once the patient has gained an awareness of their state of stress, then they are able to begin to gain control in this area of their lives, rather than being at the mercy of an unmanaged state of being. Patients with Cancer or Terminal Illnesses often have a feeling of having no control over their lives. This begins the next phase of healing. When we are able to start making conscious decisions about our health and our lives, we begin accessing our power within. Through guiding each person to access their internal awareness, their lives begin to change on many levels, especially health wise. What is Internal Awareness? Internal Awareness is the our ability to be witness to what we are choosing to think, feel, eat and respond to life as it is happening. Most of us have been brought up to live on auto pilot. We are in constant reaction to life rather than living with a knowing that we are able to respond to life as it is happening. In remembering that we can respond to a situation rather than automatically react, gives us the understanding that we can then also choose how we respond to life's unfoldment. It is our response to life's happenings that create our future moments in life. This begins to strengthen our internal sense of Power  to an even greater degree. We begin to see that we have choices. We begin to see that maybe what we have chosen before has not been serving us or even those surrounding us. Looking at life patterns is another important step in the stages of healing. Identifying what is working for our good is important in creating more of it to assist in our healing process. In the same way, discovering what is not working for our good is equally important so that we may let go of those behaviors. Letting go of these habitual patterns that are not serving us then frees up so much of our energy to bring in more of what is working to create our good. Wether someone is going to heal from illness or someone is going to go through the dying process, these stages of internal healing are critical for one's overall wellbeing. Wether we are going to live or we are going to die, we want to be at peace within ourselves and with our lives. From this point forward, the patient is then able to look at their whole being and life, not just the illness, or being consumed by fear and emotion. This enables one to begin making conscious choices about all aspects of their lives. They can look at whether they are with the right doctors for them, which nutrition might best serve their current circumstances, which activities through out their days will serve their lives for whatever time that they have left. I have witnessed for each and every patient that I have worked with that their illness then becomes this immense blessing and teaching in their lives which leads to great inner awareness and peace. When we are faced with our own mortality, we are forced to look beyond what we already think we know. We open up, we become more flexible and receptive to life. It is true that one does not need to become ill in order for this to take place. But whether we are ill or we are just looking for the meaning of our lives, these stages of healing can lead us through the doorway to Peace within. It is a great gift to bear witness to this unfolding. Indeed it is the greatest work that I have ever known.

The Art of Vulnerability

Vulnerability is a Powerful Force.

One of which we always have access
to help us to experience greater levels of happiness
and contentment in our lives.
What happens when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable?
We become better.
It is true that we have been taught exactly the opposite. From a young age most of us are taught to protect ourselves, not to trust anyone, not to show emotion, play it cool, and on and on.
When we partake in any of these things, we mask ourselves and close ourselves and others off from experiencing us as we truly are.
In essence, we begin living a lie, so to speak.
We pretend that others aren't able to see how we are feeling, but in reality,
WE SEE EACH OTHER.
Some may be more sensitive than others in their seeing, and others may pay less attention.
Regardless, the reality is the same;  we do see each other behind the masks that we create.
If we have been taught that showing vulnerability is a weakness, then how can we even begin to see it as a source of power?
Most all of the great teachers across the planet have shown their vulnerability and accessed their true inner power from this place.
They have gathered the masses to follow them and change the world by their side.
Look at the lives of Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Jesus Christ, Mother Theresa, and Martin Luther King Jr, just to name a few.
True transparency is the Art of Vulnerability.
What do we really have to hide?
We all have been hurt, we all have made mistakes, we all have the same basic desires and needs, we all are human.
If someone chooses to judge us for being honest and showing how we really are feeling, is choosing them as a friend a wise choice?
Consider the choice of having people in our lives that we can be ourselves with and who honor us for it?
What about the choice of being true to ourselves?
There is a melting down that takes place when begin allowing ourselves to be vulnerable.
A softening happens. We become Real. We become Beautiful. We become Respectable, Trust worthy, and Kind and Compassionate.
We show our true strength in the most humble and powerful way.
When we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known,
we are honoring the most sacred part of ourselves.
In sharing this part of ourselves, we are also honoring it in another by allowing them the gift of seeing us fully.
Anyone who has spent time in meditation knows the ABSOLUTE POWER OF VULNERABILITY.
One must die to one's sense of self in order to attain enlightenment.
Meaning; one must become absolutely vulnerable in order for the self or ego to dissolve enough that the veils fall away, and truth is revealed.
This is when we begin to truly see reality.
Vulnerability is our friend that can enhance our lives in many ways.
Allowing true vulnerability requires great strength. One must be comfortable enough with themselves and strong enough to take the risk.
The results that can come from demonstrating such strength, can do nothing short of changing the world.
Certainly showing vulnerability will change your life!
Vulnerability is where all creativity is birthed.  It is the seed from which everlasting change is born.
Go for it~ Show your true face!
We are waiting for you to come alive and come out to play with us!
Let's change the world together.
~
“Vulnerability is the only authentic state.
Being vulnerable means being open, for wounding, but also for pleasure.
Being open to the wounds of life means also being open to the bounty and beauty.
Don’t mask or deny your vulnerability: it is your greatest asset.
Be vulnerable: quake and shake in your boots with it. the new goodness that is coming to you,
in the form of people, situations, and things can only come to you when you are vulnerable, i.e. open.”

                  THE OPEN DOOR

Sometimes we can spend so much time

looking for answers in our lives, that we stop

being present to experience what is actually

happening that may be offering us the doorway

     we have been searching for
